Andy Irving - Consultant.

Andy is a well qualified, enthusiastic and highly-skilled PC specialist with detailed knowledge and hands on experience of a wide variety of hardware and software platforms.

He is also a supportive team player with a demonstrable track record for innovation. He has up to date experience in web design and building Hyperion Performance Suite v8.5 (formerly BRIO) documents, including dashboards.

Some of his previous achievements are listed below:

Credit Suisse (Zurich, Switzerland)

  • Analysing business requirements, drawing up the specifications and developing Hyperion v8.5 applications for users against Oracle databases.
  • Nike EHQ (Hilversum, Holland)

  • Developing Brio applications for users. This included a document which built an Excel spreadsheet from charts etc produced by Brio and another application which produced an HTML report, per client, and then e-mailed the results to the relevant consultant. These were against a variety of databases including Teradata, DB2, Oracle and MS Sql Server
  • His first Contract was with the Bromley Group (Dublin) who were Hyperion partners until 31/12/05:

  • Was responsible for the installation of Hyperion Performance suite for the Irish Air Corps. The Air Corps installation was complex due to their requirements for Meta Data and single sign-on against a Novell LDAP server.
  • Was the main Instructor for all aspects of Brio and Hyperion for Clients such as AIB (UK and Ireland), O2 Ireland and HP (Ireland and USA). Responsible for writing an Administrator and Dashboard Builder courses.
  • Main point of contact for all Brio and Hyperion clients for support.
  • Whilst with Canada Life he:

  • Improved the productivity of the user’s with an easy to use menu system, which "built itself" from data in an Excel Spreadsheet using Hyperion Performance Suite 8.3.2 (formerly BRIO) and JavaScript.
  • Expansively revised, by normalisation, the existing Hyperion Performance Suite 8.3.2 (formerly BRIO) reports to enable the user’s to access and use their reports more intuitively and for the reports to run a lot quicker thereby improving efficiency (some reports ran up to 100 times faster).
  • Migrated the BRIO v6 reports to Hyperion Performance Suite v8.3.2 iViewer. During this time mastered the use of derivable queries and data models to further improve performance
  • Produced an “HPS8 iViewer Guide” and gave training sessions on the new system to approximately 50 user’s
  • Built innovative Hyperion Reports which produced a new report for the user with all the intricate SQL pre-written from which to derive the required data. This ensured data consistency between reports.
  • Wrote a Hints and Tips document to aid the user’s to build their own reports
  • Instigated access privileges into the Access databases which controlled which databases were available to specific users and their access rights within each database.
  • Migrated the ex-RSA Access 97 databases running on a Novell 5 Server to Access 2000 running on a Citrix Server.
  • Visit www.andytime.com for an example of his work
  • and with Sun Alliance/Royal SunAlliance

  • Initiated an innovative method enabling the PC’s to print to their nearest printer.
  • Worked very closely with a team from the IT department building a system for the Group Risk Department. An extremely complex project which was made all the more challenging through decisions being made where the programming language and database was changed from one (Visual Basic over DB2/2) to another (Delphi over ORACLE). Due to a buy out of a competitor’s book of business (in which he was heavily involved), all this work was dropped following his recommendation to buy the competitors system, based on ORACLE Forms and Reports.
